Hello! 2

Hello! It’s very nice to meet you. Or maybe we’ve already met somewhere else. Either way, I’m so glad you stopped by.

I’m Laura. I’m a mom, a sister, a daughter and a friend. I work full time as General Manager at a busy restaurant and in the majority of my free time I knit and design knitting patterns. My days can be quite long and my nights a bit too short. I drink lots of coffee to get me through the day.

My grandmother taught me to knit as a child, but I promptly forgot just about everything she taught me before I could finish the face cloth I was working on. Fast forward about 15 years when I needed something to keep me busy in the quiet moments when my son was a baby. I went to the local fabric store, picked up some Red Heart Classic and some Boye needles, sat down with YouTube and re-taught myself to knit. I picked up my needles off and on for about 4 years, keeping busy during cold winter nights. I’ve stayed busy and have had a project on the needles ever since 2013.

Since that time, I’ve discovered a whole other world of knitting and yarn. Everyday I am amazed by the fiber and knitting community around me. I am humbled by the support and generosity, and by the willingness to help others and share ideas. I’m not sure I’ve ever experienced anything like it.

Through my designs and this blog, I aim to support small businesses whenever possible. I hope to share my fondness for the hard-working dyers, designers, spinners and countless others in this community with all of you.

I have a lot of ideas that I can’t wait to share with you. I hope you’ll visit often to chat about knitting and yarn and a little bit about life in general.

So that’s my story, now tell me yours. Share your knitting story in the comments below or send me an email at hello[at]laurabethknit[dot]com. I’d love to hear from you!

xoxo Laura

What a great first post! Enjoyed reading it and look forward to the great things you have planned. The knitting and fiber community is a great one! I love being apart of it. I worked as a waitress before I have my son, and my husband is an Assistant Manager at a restaurant. So I know what your time is like! Enjoyed getting to know a bit about you!
